A fundamental solution to this problem is to strategically attract new businesses into our community that will provide the tax revenue necessary to support our community, while at the same time improving our living conditions and environment.
Let’s start off by describing why “Green” Tech and businesses make an excellent strategic target.
Why We Should Enable the Immediate Marketability of Sustainable Technologies
- It is broadly acknowledged within the global community that our continued dependence on fossil fuels is unsustainable:
- There is a security threat with allowing other nations or interests, which may not align with internal U.S. interests, to provide vital energy needs, and to control energy markets.
- The increasing costs associated with our dependence on depleting fossil resources threatens our economy.
- The immediate threat of Global Warming will have vast economic and security implications if left unabated. In fact, the Pentagon’s planning scenario says that global warming “should be elevated beyond a scientific debate to a US national security concern.” It declares that “future wars will be fought over the issue of survival rather than religion, ideology or national honor.”
- Forward looking governments are introducing policies to secure leadership roles in Green Technologies:
- In 2000 and 2001 public policy leadership by Japan and Germany created an investible regulatory framework for solar electricity technology, enabling a multi-billion dollar global market.
